Progress on Tuesday 26th

What a good session. Once again we got some rig work done and saw strong progress. Hannah tried straight back somersaults for the first time and despite initial misgivings nearly got them by the end. Heather, similarly cautious to start with, produced a few goodish font somersaults (although needs to remember the correct direction is up on every occasion not just every other attempt!) Kevin produced some good somersaults, one so vertical I think it surprised him it could be done that high. James also worked well and produced some very strong somersaults. Tiana surprised - despite still needing to work on other more basic moves, she tried front somersaults in the rig and produced some really good work!

In between rig activities a lot of other work, a lot on quality back-bouncing designed to improve return to feet from back-landing was productive. Remember - it is raise posterior off the bed and extend the legs upwards whilst NOT lifting your head up to look that will give this good control.

Well done all.

6-week class - 22nd February

The last session in this class, some of you enjoyed it so much you thought you would want to sign up for more. Don't forget that there are also opportunities to bounce with Brentwood trampoline Club - check out pay-as-you-go sessions here.

Progress in this last class was good, Abbie's back somersaults much better and higher (although straddles still no hand/leg contact!), Claudia making steady progress with some good back drop & swivel hip attempts. Ellie - shame we didn't see more of you over the course - good progress made, Megan also caught up quite well with some laudable attempts at back drop. Tegan - solid progress but really need to get your chest/hips up a little more for seat and back landings and Thomas also some good attempts at swivel hips. Isaac - also well done on your first attempts - get those toes pointing and we'll make a trampolinist of you. :-)

Final updates on your progress chart will be posted here in next day or so.

After-School Session Tuesday 19th February

Fresh back from half-term it was unfortunate that only a few turned up - that did mean, though, that those who did turn up got more goes and progressed further! We even got to use the rig for developing some somersault skills. By the way - my thanks to Miss Anderson as well for coming in to help, it allowed those there to get more goes.

Steve did well adapting to using arm-set and worked hard on front somersault from arm-set and then on back somersault in the rig (he only lifted me off the ground once I think!)

Kevin also did well adapting to arm-set into front somersault although landing head first was not ideal. Fortunately much rig work later I hope that this is now behind him - we'll need to see next session.

James also progressed well, becoming confident doing front somersault without support and getting good direction.

Hannah also progressed well using arm sets into front and back somersaults and starting to link moves together after somersault.

As we discussed I would like you all to start assessing your progress relative to the British Gymnastics Award scheme - I have posted the details of this scheme on the BCHS Trampolining website here. Hopefully next week we will be able to tie down what you are missing and start filling in the gaps.

Well done all - DaveK
